Project FIVE

Graduate-level leadership course

Date: 2023

Role: Instructional Designer/SME

Project Type: E-Learning Course

This course was designed as a five-module leadership course for graduate-level students enrolled in a Master of Education in Educational Leadership program. The previous iteration of the course was lacking strong instructional design concepts, such as course alignment, varied instructional strategies, and presence of COI principles.

The development tool chosen was an LMS (Canvas), which was an effective way to provide students content, as they accessed all course through an LMS.  Learners would have access to the information and could work through the lessons on their own time. The evidenced-based concepts used to guide development of this course was the COI Framework, incorporating cognitive presence, teacher presence, and social presence. The course also utilized Bloom's Taxonomy to develop measurable course objectives.

The course was well-received by students, as well as the instructor who was to teach the course.
